Giving treats sensibly

A treat is an extra on top of proper meals. Check the pack for the suggested number per day and any age guidance, and keep to it, because small pieces add up faster than you would think. If more than one person in the house feeds the cat, agree who gives the treats so the same cat does not collect three rounds.

In a home with two or more cats, hand the treats out separately. The bolder cat will otherwise eat the lot.

Storage

Close the pack tightly or clip it once it is open, and keep it in a cupboard the cat cannot get into. Cats have been known to chew through the bag.
